Hi! I’m Amanda.
I’m a writer from central Ohio who now lives in Southern California. When I’m not doing my for-work-writing, I blog with my friends at Miss Grown Up, work on a few of my own projects, read many many books, take care of my tiny balcony garden, undertake many crafty passtimes, and try to expand my repertoire in the kitchen. I’m a follower of Jesus, and a devoted family woman. You’ll read a lot about my little family in the pages of this blog, so I’ll give them each a proper introduction.
This is my husband, Tyler:
He’s a computery type and a musician, not to mention my very best friend. We’ve been married for five years and together for seven. Tyler is the level-headed realist to my day-dreamy optimist, the head to my heart, the cheese to my macaroni. We make a great team. I coax him out of his shell and convince him to look at the world through the lens of breathtaking opportunity, and he anchors me down to the earth, making sure that I don’t float too far up into the clouds and forget to do things like eat regular meals and get my oil changed. (That doesn’t mean I don’t take care of him too. I do 95% of the cooking, and I make sure he has clean socks. Clean socks are very important to a marriage, especially on early mornings.)
This is our first baby, Cambria:
Cambria is our impetuous 4 year-old Siamese cat. She likes sitting in things like boxes and baskets, basking in the sunlight, playing with strings and the plastic rings that peel off the tops of milk cartons, and, of course, tuna fish. She’s very vocal and friendly, feisty and playful, and a total lovebug once she gets to know you. Cambria is mommy’s girl, following me around the house and sleeping by my head each night. You can read the story of how we got Cambria here.
And the newest addition to our family is Oscar:
Oscar is a Boston Terrier, whom we believe is between two and three years-old. We’re not sure what his background is because he was a rescue doggy, but in the short month that we’ve had him he’s quickly become a cherished part of our family. In turns silly and playful, lazy and sleepy, Oscar is a total cuddle monster who wants to be friends with everyone, human or animal, that he meets. He’s already won over many friends along his normal morning walk route and in our apartment building with his loving nature and his big, googly eyes. We just can’t imagine our little family without him anymore!
So that’s our little family, and this blog is pretty much me. What you see is what you get, and I hope that you like it and stick around for a bit. And, as always, I’m more that happy to hear any comments you may have in the comments section below.
À bientôt!
I am terribly jealous of your book list! I love reading myself and hope that one day, I’ll be able to read half as much as you have.
P.S. Amanda is a great name 🙂
Thank you! Luckily, reading a lot doesn’t require a unique talent, just a lot of want-to, so I’m sure you’ll get to where you want to be soon. And Amanda really is the best name out there, isn’t it? 🙂
I would beg to differ 🙂 Kia is lol

Huh. That’s very odd, Maria. Let me send you an email off of my personal address, and I’ll also try to figure out what’s wrong with this one.
Thank you!
Anybody ever tell you that you look just like Amanda Hocking author of the Trylle Trilogy? 😀
